Pascal Gallet is European. He was born in France and first studied the piano with Eliane Richepin and Paul Crapie.
Following his first television appearance at the age of ten, he entered the Paris conservatoire Supérieur de Musique, initially in the Pierre Sancan’s class and then in those of Yvonne Loriod and Pierre Reach. He was unanimusly awarded a First prize in 1987, and went on to pursue advanced studies. He subsequently met Teresa Llacuna and has remained her staunch disciple ever since. He has won awards at various international competitions including those of Viotti-Valsésia, the Ministry of Culture, Porto, Trapani, Vierzon and the Menuhin Foundation.
Pascal Gallet then embarked on an international career as a soloist as well as with French and international orchestras such as those of regions of Brittany and Savoy, Unam of Mexico, the Duisburg and the Calgary Philharmonics under conductors including Claude Schnitzer, Marc Foster… He has performed at prestigious concert venues such as the Gaveau, Châtelet Theatre and the Lyon Opera House ; and with notable French musicians including Patrice Fontanarosa, Francois-René Duchâble, Marie Annick Nicolas, Alain Meunier, François Sauzeau, Benoît Fromanger, Eric Aubier,…
He attracted the attention of Francois René Duchâble with whom he preformed the complete Bach concertos for two, three and four pianos in the snow opposite Mont-Blanc, and Olivier Messaien who dedicated two of his bird catalogues to him (“La Rousserolle Effarvatte” and “Le Merle Bleu”).
Pascal Gallet’s repertoire features numerous modern works such as “Nocturne IV” by Thierry Pecou, “Post Card” by Henri Fourrés and “Fieber-fantaisie” by Jork Widmann. His recordings have also attracted a great deal of attention : the world premiere of Manuel de Falla’s “Concert Allegro” made at the studios of radio France, “Musique d’Europe” and “Trios by Vinvent d’Indy and Fauré”: and his first solo record of music by Joaquin Turina which led the specialised press to compare him to the young Alicia de Larrocha. The latter recording was chosen to be part of a board set of the first of today’s pianists. As a regular at many international festivals such as those of Villevielle, Naples, Geneva, Kiev, Detmold, Kitzingen, he has performed as both a soloist or in chamber music with the likes of E. Fischer, R. Filippini, J. Widmann,
J. Silverstein. He was recently invited to be on the jury
the 6th Horowitz International Competition.
In 2002, after a tour in Taiwan and concerts in Germany, followed by the “Musicades” festival in Lyon, he is touring China and Japan.
In 2003, he works with Francois-René Duchâble in a “Concert Hommage”, and he is touring in Canada. He has featured in numerous radio broadcasts in live, notably presenting his recordings of Chopin and Turina. This recording marks the start of Pascal Gallet`s collaboration with the Maguelone label, with which will include the complete music for piano by André Jolivet.
Since june 2001, Pascal Gallet has been the artistic director of the Pentecotes Musicales Festival at the Abbaye de Fontmorigny.
Since November 2004, Pascal Gallet is artist in residence at the Conservatory of the city of Pecq (Yvelines, France).
